Vignettes from India: Movement of Traffic

I have long been fascinated by the movement of traffic in India. Such crowds, all needing to get somewhere, each individual intent on his or her own goal, and yet somehow, in most cases, people tend to wait in patience and move around one another gracefully. The flow patterns may be hesitant or stop completely sometimes, but the inexorable need to move ahead always prevails.
(In this case I am seated on the back of a friend’s scooter in Varanasi.)
